These are the usual records for a Birthsite Sprint hosted site. If we give you a project-specific value later, use that value instead.
Screenshot current DNS before saving. If your registrar rejects the CNAME value, ask before saving.

The safest access request
Please invite me as a technical helper or domain manager. Do not send your password. Your business keeps ownership of the domain, billing, email, and account.
Message you can send
“I need help connecting my domain to my new website. Please use the invite/delegate feature in your domain account and add Birthsite Sprint as a domain/DNS helper. I will keep ownership of the account and billing.”
What permission should I choose?
Choose the narrowest role that allows DNS/domain management. If there is no domain-only role, use admin temporarily, then remove access after launch.

GoDaddy
- Sign in and open Domain Portfolio.
- Select the domain, then choose DNS.
- Add or edit the A record for @.
- Add or edit the CNAME record for www.
- Save. Domain Protection may ask for verification.
Namecheap
- Sign in, choose Domain List, then Manage.
- Open Advanced DNS.
- In Host Records, add or edit the A record for @.
- Add or edit the CNAME record for www.
- Save and wait for DNS to update.
Squarespace Domains
- Open your Squarespace domains dashboard.
- Select the domain, then choose DNS Settings.
- Add the custom A and CNAME records.
- If the DNS panel is unavailable, the DNS may be managed somewhere else.
- Do not remove email records.
Wix
- Open the site dashboard and go to domain settings.
- Use the DNS/pointing area for the domain.
- Add the A record and CNAME record together.
- If Wix owns the domain, assign a Domain Manager role when available.
- Wix may warn about DNSSEC or proxy settings; ask before changing those.
HostGator or cPanel
- Open cPanel and go to Domains or Zone Editor.
- If the domain is not listed, it may need to be added as a domain/alias first.
- Use Zone Editor to add or edit A, CNAME, and other DNS records.
- Save the record changes.
- Check SSL once DNS resolves.

Should I change nameservers?
Usually no. For most launches, editing the A and CNAME records is cleaner because it leaves existing email and account settings in place.
How long will this take?
Many changes show up within an hour, but DNS can take up to 48 hours globally. During that window, the site may work for some people before it works for everyone.
What should I screenshot before saving?
Screenshot the existing DNS records, especially MX and TXT records. If anything breaks, those screenshots help restore email and verification records quickly.
What should I send Birthsite Sprint?
Send your domain name, registrar name, whether your domain email is active, and either an invite or a screenshot of the DNS records after you update them.
